Detroit Vegan Wedding

Our wedding was intimate and perfect. We didn't want it especially generic or traditional, but we also didn't shy away from customary wedding plans. And most importantly, we made sure it was vegan. From the groomsmen's suits and ties to the wedding dress to all the food, we made sure everything was vegan. On top of that, we wanted to make sure, as much as we could, that everything was thoughtfully purchased and booked. We made our own signs which were at various locations at the reception, I included succulents in my bouquet so I could repot them afterward, I got my wedding dress from a non-profit whose proceeds support families fighting cancer, and we got our rings from an antique store (and my Grandmother's wedding ring). It ended up being better than I could have ever expected. For more information on vendors, scroll to the bottom of the post.
We got to take so many beautiful photos around The Whitney, where our ceremony took place.
I got my dress used from The Brides Project, which is a non-profit that dedicated to raising funds for free programs for families impacted by cancer at the Cancer Support Community (CSC) of Greater Ann Arbor through the sale of donated bridal gowns.
We took pictures prior to the wedding at the Belle Isle Conservatory.
The bouquets were simple, with roses, lavender, baby's breath, and succulents. After the wedding, I replanted the succulents and still have some today.
One of our good friends, Clayton, performed the ceremony. It was such a wonderful personal touch and made our day particularly special.
The ceremony took place on a ledge in front of one of The Whitney's stained glass windows.
Our wedding party included siblings and closest friends.
We got our desserts catered from The Lunch Room in Ann Arbor. The cake was a simple chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. It was so delicious!
In addition to the cake, we had The Lunch Room make a number of our favorite desserts, including cupcakes, oatmeal cream pies, and cookie dough brownies.
Meeting House Grand Ballroom did a fantastic job at providing a vegan menu. Our appetizers were an apple crumble (shown here) and a Caprese spoon, with Miyoko's mozzarella. They were both delicious!
Our menu consisted of some of our favorite items: samosas, pakora, ratatouille, falafal, and mushroom stroganoff.
Our wedding fell on my dad's birthday, so we made sure to celebrate his day during our day!
For our guest book, we had guests sign a wood plaque in the shape of the lower peninsula of Michigan.
During one of our first dates, R.C. and I were driving to get ice cream and the song
